Chicago MMUG Presentation tonight: Flash Components

Tonight (Oct 17), downtown Chicago, we're having a Flash-component tutorial party. We will learn:

  • How to use them
  • Where to get them
  • Why they're so great
  • And even (gasp!) how to make them (!!!)

As a special bonus, there will be gratuitous drop-shadows and blends so we can make a big deal about using Flash 8.

If you left Chicago to go to MAX, you made a mistake (yes you, Michael Schaffner). Quick, get on the plane and get back here!

If you didn't go to MAX and if you live in Chicagoland, then you have no excuse. Get on the Metra and be there.

Note: By the time we get to creating components, we'll be running short of time, so that discussion will be brief. However, I'll be writing a tutorial and posting it on this site. So, do both: be there and read the tutorial. The one-two punch will ensure that you learn the concepts to the deepest recesses of your brain.

It was great, thanks. I liked the way you built everything while we watched, instead of just loading a bunch of code and saying hey this code here does this. :)

Glad you liked it. It's much easier to talk when the audience is participating. It's also more rewarding. I had fun.

I haven't written the online version yet. Sorry. I'm thinking about Captivate, but I'm trying to decide whether I actually want to buy it.
